Nice rod!
"I like this rod better than I thought I would. It handles a half size heavy 8wt line very well - and it's very accurate at typical structure casting or sight casting distances. It actually handles a 9wt line pretty darn well. Because of its short length it feels like a 7wt in the hand. I enjoy it for light saltwater in my kayak."

Good kayak Rod, Customer Service is Weak
"I purchased my an 8 weight for use in my kayak on rivers because of the length. It casts well and has LOTS of backbone. The quality is anout what you expect for a $180 fly rod, very serviceable. I liked it so much a bought a second one. First time out with the second rod I noticed the reel seat was lose and had become misaligned. When I checked it I found the reel seat could be easily spun completely around the blank. I contacted the customer service number and got a message so I left a message. They responded the next day and instructed me to fill out an online form which states they would review the claim and get back to me in 10-14 days. WHAT? Kind of lame given another American rod manufacturer had me back on the water in 6 days after contacting them. I have lost confidence in St Croix and will likely not purchase any more of their products."
